Long-Term Running Goals:

- Run for Division 1 program (First goal I've 100% made on here!)

- Compete at NCAA XC and TF Nationals

- Sub 14 5000m on the track

- Make the B standard and go to the trials for the 5k or 10k

I have been running since fifth grade. My favorite professional runners are David Rudisha and Evan Jager. My favorite high school runner is Chris Watson because he periodically reads this blog and should definitely make one.

Freshman year has come and gone, and I have little to show for it aside from some ill-advised blog posts.

Brief Summary:

  1. Reached 60 miles a week over the summer, far surpassing any training volume I had done before
  2.  Got mono somehow and raced twice without knowing I was sick in XC while redshirting:
    1. CMU vs. MSU | 5k | 15:33 | 6th (MSU withheld top 6 or 7 guys)
    2. Spartan Invitational | 8k | 26:10 | 63rd (Really feeling sick at this point)
  3. Too sick to race the next week
  4. Doctor's Appointment
  5. Blood Test
  6. Absolute Hell
  7. Attempting to return but getting injured repeatedly trying to increase mileage
  8. Went from pool running to racing in spikes in the span of like 3 weeks. Had a disastrous 3-race season:
    1. Oakland Golden Grizzly Invite | 1500 | 4:13 | 11th of 21, 2nd place in the slow heat
    2. GVSU Al Owens Open | 1500 | 4:04 | 26th overall, 10th in 2nd heat (Threw up twice before this one)
    3. Hillsdale GINA Relays | 5000 | 15:24 | 47th in Open 5000 overall, 18th in 2nd Heat
  9. Legs were in a ton of pain and hurt too much to do a cool down jog after the 5000, so I rested for a week
  10. Attempted to come back for summer training and was hit with the same leg pain, now trying again more gradually, with rehab and strength work. This brings us up to date.
