Long-Term Running Goals:

- Run for Division 1 program (First goal I've 100% made on here!)

- Compete at NCAA XC and TF Nationals

- Sub 14 5000m on the track

- Make the B standard and go to the trials for the 5k or 10k

I have been running since fifth grade. My favorite professional runners are David Rudisha and Evan Jager. My favorite high school runner is Chris Watson because he periodically reads this blog and should definitely make one.

Awesome tempo today. Still coughing but almost in the same shape I was at the END of XC according to this run. That's good news for my 3200 on Thursday. Very glad Watson had an incredibly solid workout.

3x(200+200+800) with huge rest (4 min) between sets and ~1 min between intervals, first two in my trainers with 800s of 2:15 and 2:16. Last interval in my spikes with a slight negative split 2:12. Thought spikes would make a bigger difference but I was tired.

Raced the 3200 today. Went out in 4:48 and had a good rhythm. Race fell apart and I ran 75, 76, 75, 70 finishing my second mile in 4:57. Not a horrible solo effort for the start of the season but not a good one either. Legs felt spent from the get go. Probably can pin this one on my workouts this week and the fact that I'm still coughing so there is something in my lungs. Then one of the 4x4 teams wanted me so I ran that and split a 57. Last time I split a 55 but I'd run the 800 then and there were people right around me during the relay. This time I had just finished the 3200 a couple minutes beforehand and was passed the baton with my team slightly gapped from the others. Got a little ground on one of Juanita's teams but not much. I wore 1/8th inch spikes today and I didn't like the feel. Didn't get the easy grip on the track that I got with 1/4ths that made running in spikes feel so effortless. I will try racing in 3/16th inch spikes next week in all likelihood.
